It’s been another busy couple of months. One of the most exciting being the arrival of the new Alpha 120T robin, which is available for training and private hire. It was shipped in from New Zealand and flight tested here and has all the latest gadgets. The second alpha Robin will be with us some time later proving New Zealand don’t hold us up again. In the meantime G-BZET will continue to stay on the school and will purchased by us Anglian Flight Centres. We are also pleased to announce the arrival of a Rockwell Commander 112TC. This again is available for hire and training.
Visitors to the airfield always continue to comment on how well kept the airfield is and all the staff endeavour to maintain the upkeep to high standards.
We are pleased to announce another great year of night flying, Well done to all those who passed their night rating.
Just a reminder to everyone, now that the evenings are pulling out and people enjoy flying after hours, people can hire school aircraft as long as the desk staff know that you are coming in and that you have made arrangements for the aircraft to be refilled etc. Also only one take off and landing by any one aircraft can be done after hours. NO CIRCUITS.
The Christmas party was a great success and thanks to Victoria’s hard work we are pleased to announce that she will be organising another one next year, the date is pencilled in for 10th January 2009. The Earls Colne social club met at the Essex Golf and Country club back in February and was a great hit. Since then the social club has taken part in a quiz night at Andrewsfield, where we came 8th and joint 5th. To get revenge a bowling evening has been arranged for the 4th April at Freeport Braintree 7.30pm. To add your names please see notice on notice board. Pudsey leaving party was held on Friday 29th February. Pudsey bear is now enjoying a new life some where in Norwich. Thanks to all those who took part and to those who were due to fly but didn’t because of the weather. You managed to help raise just over £500 for children in need. We hope to hold a few BBQ’s during the summer. Watch the website for more details.
The members of the fire crew continue to train regularly, thanks to Victoria our Senior Airfield Fire Officer for coordinating and recording all the fire training each month. We are always grateful to all volunteers new and old who basically keep the airfield licensed.
Life has been made a little easier for you now, when it comes to working out weight and balance. It has now been put on the website. Thanks to Nigel.
As you will have seen we have Nigel and Deb’s Yak based at EGSR. We are pleased to announce that Anglian flight centres will be sponsoring the yak, so watch out for new logos. New logos will be placed on our existing aircraft; the new robin has already had Anglian Flight Centres put on it.
Thank you to everyone for their continued support and remember to keep an eye on the website for updates and more news as the year progresses…
Regards
Mick Manders
