Night Flying 2007/08

(Issued Oct 2007)

Training, Official night - 18:00 ( 7 days )

• Book slots as usual
• Last take off must be before 17:45
• All returning aircraft must land by 18:00

Private home based & club a/c (non training flights only) 18:00 - 19.00
(By prior arrangement only- minimum 48hrs notice)

Slot allocation mandatory (only 6 available per day*)

• Last take off must be by 18:45
• All returning aircraft must land by 19:00

Members Landing charges (single engine) & Private Owned Aircraft

• Any landing between official night - 18:00 £5 ( non members £20 )
• Any landing between 18:00 - 19:00 £15 ( non members £40 )

All pilots:

• The CFI strongly recommends that ALL pilots intending to use the AGL System have a check out with an instructor prior to using the lights as sole reference for landing / taking off

• John P: Mon, Tues, Sat
• Robin R: Alternative wed, Sat
• Eric H: Sat, Sun
• Robert D: Sun

 

IMC Groundschool 2007

(Issued Oct 2007)

Commencing on Tuesday 27/11/07 at 1900hrs until 2200hrs for 8 weeks.

• Nov 27
• Dec 4,11,18
• Jan 8,15,22,29

Will include the following:

• 16 x 75 minute lectures ( 2 per evening ). All Power Point Presentations
• CD Work book including Word documents of all presentations
• Sample exam question with answers
• Mock Examination with answers
• Gyro and Instrument demonstrations
• Demonstrations on Laptop PC Simulator of Approaches and Procedures

Cost £250 per head in advance ( That's 2 hours flying )

Minimum of 6 people

World's Biggest Coffee Morning

Once again we were part of 'The World's Biggest Coffee Morning' which took place on 28th September 2007.
It was all in aid of the charity Macmillan Cancer Support, and we're pleased to report that we raised £110.67. Well done to all concerned who supported this event. Even those who helped out in the smallest way made a difference!

Polly Vacher's visit to Earls Colne on 3rd July 2007

Polly Vacher the author of ‘Wings Around the World’ landed at Earls Colne on Tuesday 3rd July just before 18:00 local time. We are one of the 206 airfields she is visiting in her single engine Piper Dakota as she circumnavigates the UK raising money for the charity ‘Flying Scholarships for the Disabled’.

Polly was given a warm welcome by a small gathering of friends, staff and club members. She spent about half an hour on the ground chatting about her flying and signing copies of her book before departing for Cambridge where she was due to rest overnight before continuing her journey.

On her departure Polly was 'escorted' from the field by Nigel Willson in his Yak, allowing some great photos to be taken. Thank you to Debs for her photographic skills!
