Scholarship Winner – Toby

A huge well done to Toby Peters who was the successful winner of the 45hr PPL Scholarship offered by Anglian Flight Centres in conjunction with Easy PPL and the Air League.

Toby really impressed us with his knowledge and passion for aviation and his determination to enjoy every step of the journey. He is eager to learn and fits in perfectly at Anglian Flight Centres.

– How long have you been interested in learning to fly and what made you enter the scholarship?

When I was young, my Dad took me to airshows and I had a passion for aviation as I grew up. I was in the air cadets for a few years too. Covid delayed my plans to get into aviation so I studied at university and then realised there were scholarships available to help get back into it. Not only is there financial support from a scholarship to allow me to fly regularly, there is also all of the expertise and guidance that AFC, Easy PPL and the Air League are able to offer me.

– How many hours have you done so far and what have you enjoyed most?

At AFC, I have done around 12 hours of flying so far. I felt so welcome at AFC and a part of the community right from the beginning. My flying instructors, Roger and Simon, have both been great and have taken things at my pace, encouraging me to perform manoeuvres once I feel ready so I have really enjoyed every exercise. Most recently, I have been doing circuits and I have loved pulling together everything I have learnt so far. I am really looking forward to my first solo flight!

– Do you have any goals in aviation?

Short term, I am enjoying the process of getting my PPL and I am looking forward to being able to enjoy flying independently. Since I was young, I have wanted to work for an airline, so my long term goal is working in civil aviation, but I would also love to be a flight instructor.

We wish Toby the very best of luck for his training, and a very warm welcome to Anglian Flight Centres.
